Charles Trenet (Louis Charles Auguste Claude Trenet), nato il 18 maggio 1913 a Narbonne e morto il 19 febbraio 2001 a Créteil, è stato un cantautore francese di grande successo. La sua carriera artistica, iniziata negli anni '30, ha raggiunto l'apice tra la fine degli anni '30 e la metà degli anni '50, pur continuando fino agli anni '90. Trenet si distingueva per aver scritto la maggior parte delle sue canzoni, rifiutandosi di registrare brani composti da altri artisti in un periodo storico in cui era raro che i cantanti scrivessero le proprie musiche. Tra i suoi successi più noti figurano "La Mer", "Boum!" e "Y'a d'la joie". Trenet ha contribuito a definire il sound della chanson francese, influenzando generazioni di artisti.
