Kwam gisteren te sterven
Het is definitief met het beest gedaan
Nooit zal hij meer een vloek uitslaan
Nooit meer de mat bederven
Het was een eigenaardig beest
Hij kon het Wilhelmus zingen
Zo'n dier is er nog nooit geweest
Zelfs bij het laten van de geest
Zei hij nog vieze dingen
Mijn tante is een nette vrouw
Met deftige manieren
Als tante zei van koppiekrauw
Kreeg zei ten antwoord: "Barst nou gauw
Zit niet aan mijn kop te klieren"
De papegaai ligt in zijn graf
Mij kan het echt niet spijten
Als Tante Sjaan hem zangzaad gaf
Beet hij het vel van haar vingers af
En tante liet hem bijten
Hij schold haar uit voor dit en dat
Terwijl hij het voer verteerde
Hij noemde haar van alles wat
Waar tante geen begrip van had
Of niet op reageerde
De buren stonden er dikwijls van
Te klapperen met hun oren
En tante Sjaan zei: "Ja, dat kan

Nu staat hij opgezet en wel
Op het dressoir te pralen
