Biz Markie, real name Marcel Hall, is an American rapper, DJ, and beatboxer born in 1964. Nicknamed "The Clown Prince of Hip-Hop", Biz Markie rose to prominence in the 1980s with his East Coast hip hop style characterized by humor and irresistible groove. His most famous single, "Just a Friend", certified platinum by the RIAA for selling over a million copies, remains an enduring classic of the genre. Among his most important albums are "Biz Markie's Bad Boys" (1988) and "I Need a Doctor" (1991). Biz Markie is also known for his collaborations with artists like LL Cool J and The Fat Boys, contributing to the evolution of hip hop in the 1990s.
