Mago de Oz is a Spanish heavy metal and folk metal band formed in the mid-1980s. The name of the group, which means "Wizards of Oz" with a heavy umlaut, was chosen by founder Txus as a metaphor for life: «Life is a yellow brick road on which we walk in the company of others searching for our dreams». The band achieved great success in Spain, being declared "Revolution Rock Band" in 1995. In 1996 they released their first rock opera album, "Jes and #250;s de Chamberi", produced by Alberto Plaza and Mago de Oz. The album was a critical and commercial success, consolidating the band's position as one of the most important bands in the Spanish music scene. Mago de Oz is known for the Celtic influence in its music, accentuated by the use of violin and flute. Among the most representative songs are "La Leyenda del Hombre Lobo", "El Rey del Mundo" and "Cuando el Sol se Ponga".
