Francis Cabrel è un cantautore e chitarrista francese nato ad Agen il 23 novembre 1953. Influenzato da Bob Dylan, ha pubblicato numerosi album che si collocano principalmente nel genere folk, con incursioni occasionali nel blues o nel country. Alcuni dei suoi brani, come "L'encre de tes yeux" e "Petite Marie", sono diventati canzoni d'autore intramontabili nella musica francese. Altri, come "C'etait l'hiver", che racconta il suicidio di una giovane ragazza, sono stati successivamente reinterpretati da artisti come la canadese Isabelle Boulay. Tra i suoi album più importanti ricordiamo "Les Morts de la nuit" (1980) e "Hors-Saison" (1987). Cabrel è noto per le sue melodie orecchiabili, testi poetici e un'interpretazione intensa.
