Juan Luis Guerra Seijas, nato a Santo Domingo il 7 giugno 1956, è un cantante, musicista e compositore dominicano considerato uno dei principali esponenti della musica latinoamericana. Guerra ha saputo fondere elementi tradizionali della musica dominicana, come il merengue e la bachata, con influenze jazzistiche e pop, creando un sound originale che ha definito "mamborengue". I suoi testi, spesso ispirati alla fede cristiana e all'amore per la sua terra natale, sono caratterizzati da una vena di umorismo e ironia. La sua carriera musicale è iniziata negli anni '70 con il gruppo 440, ma è a partire dagli anni '80 che ha raggiunto fama internazionale grazie a album come "Privé" (1985) e "Ojalá" (1992). Nel corso della sua lunga carriera, Guerra ha vinto 18 Grammy Award nel genere musica latina, consolidando il suo status di artista leggendario. Tra i suoi brani più famosi ricordiamo "Añoro tu presencia", "Visa para un sueño", "La bili" e "Bachata en Fukuoka".
