Joe Dassin (Joseph Ira Dassin, 1938-1980) è stato un cantante e compositore statunitense naturalizzato francese. Considerato uno dei più grandi artisti della musica francese degli anni '60 e '70, Dassin ha conquistato il pubblico con la sua voce calda e le sue canzoni romantiche e orecchiabili. Super poliglotta, era in grado di esprimersi e cantare in inglese, francese, tedesco, spagnolo, italiano e greco. Nato a New York da genitori francesi, si trasferì in Francia all'età di 18 anni per dedicarsi alla musica. Il suo successo arrivò con il brano "Les Champs-Élysées" (1970), che divenne un inno nazionale francese. Tra le sue canzoni più famose ricordiamo anche "Salut les copains", "Et si tu n'existais pas", e "Laissez-moi danser".
