I Taran Project sono stati un gruppo musicale etno-folk calabrese formatosi nella Locride negli anni '90. Il progetto è nato dall'incontro tra Mimmo Cavallaro, musicista e compositore di origini tarantine, e Cosimo Papandrea, cantante e poeta originario della Calabria. I due artisti hanno intrapreso un percorso musicale incentrato sulla riscoperta e la valorizzazione delle tradizioni musicali calabresi, integrandole con influenze jazzistiche e world music. Il loro sound è caratterizzato da arrangiamenti originali che mescolano strumenti tradizionali come il tarantello, la zampogna e il flauto di canna con strumenti moderni come il basso elettrico e la batteria. I Taran Project hanno pubblicato diversi album, tra cui "Taranta" (1998) e "La Terra dei Tarantini" (2001), che hanno riscosso un grande successo in Italia e all'estero. Il gruppo ha partecipato a numerosi festival musicali internazionali, contribuendo a diffondere la musica calabrese nel mondo. Mimmo Cavallaro continua ad essere attivo come musicista e compositore, dedicandosi alla ricerca e alla sperimentazione musicale.
