Out on the tar plains, the glides are moving
All looking for a new place to drive
You sit beside me, so newly charming
Sweating dew drops glisten, freshing your side
[CHORUS]
The sun slips down bedding heavy behind
The front of your dress all shadowy lined
And the droning engine throbs in time
With your beating heart
Sing Blue Silver
Way down the lane away, living for another day
The aphids swarm up in the drifting haze
Swim seagull in the sky towards that hollow western isle
My envied lady holds you fast in her gaze
[CHORUS]
And watching lovers part, I feel you smiling
What glass splinters lie so deep in your mind
To tear out from your eyes with a word to stiffen brooding lies
But I'll only watch you leave me further behind
[CHORUS]
Deftones are an American rock band formed in Sacramento, California, in 1988. Comprised of Chino Moreno (vocals), Stephen Carpenter (guitar), Abe Cunningham (drums), and Chi Cheng (bass, deceased in 2013), the group achieved international fame for their sound characterized by a blend of alternative metal, shoegaze, and post-rock. After years of local gigs and the release of their first EP "The Deftones", they signed with Maverick Records in 1995. Their debut album, "Adrenaline", was an immediate success, solidifying their place in the underground music scene. Subsequent albums like "Around the Fur" (1997) and "White Pony" (2000) expanded their fanbase and cemented them as one of the most influential bands in the alternative metal genre. Deftones are known for their intricate melodies, Moreno's introspective lyrics, and the dark, hypnotic atmosphere of their live performances. Some of their most representative tracks include "My Own Summer (Shove It)", "Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)" and "Change (In the House of Flies)".
