Frijda band fondata a Catania nel 2003, è composta da Thor alla voce, Tano "Tazmania" Giuttari e Luke Anthony alle chitarre, Domenico Cottone al basso ed Edoardo Bonanno alla batteria. Il loro genere è il "Rock", quel rock che trae le sue fonti di ispirazione dalle hard rock band storiche statunitensi e britanniche che hanno colpito la loro adolescenza, adattato all'evolversi del tempo e alle concezioni musicali dei nostri giorni e del nostro paese. Il nome "Frijda" non è altro che un omaggio al pensiero artistico della pittrice messicana Frida Kahlo, dalla quale Giancarlo (Thor) rimase molto colpito durante gli studi universitari. In questa piccola donna vide un esempio di forza di vivere sovrumana, nonostante le difficoltà della propria esistenza, una forza che è evidente sia nelle sue opere che "non dipingono sogni, ma realtà" che nella sua celebre frase, "Pies para qué los quiero, si tengo alas pà volar?" ovvero: "Piedi, perché li desidero se ho le ali per volare?". Thor ne ha fatto il motto della Band che sin da subito ha iniziato un percorso live molto intenso, ottenendo sempre un grande consenso, grazie al sound accattivante e al carisma del proprio leader. Nel 2003 la band ha l'onore di aprire il concerto de Le Vibrazioni durante una tappa del TIM Tour e nel 2006 il Calcio Catania gli affida l'incisione dell'inno ufficiale "Let's go Liotro" nella stagione della promozione in serie A che avvenne proprio quell'anno. Anno in cui aprono anche i concerti di Franco Battiato e di Mario Venuti. Nel 2007, contattati da Vittorio Sgarbi, allora Assessore dei Beni Culturali di Piazza Armerina, aprono il concerto del grandissimo Lucio Dalla e ricevono un riconoscimento Artistico dalla Provincia di Catania e dal comune di Catenanuova (EN). Nel 2009 aprono il live degli "Archinuè" e l'anno successivo sono finalisti al Premio "Lucio Battisti" di Isernia salendo sul palco prima di Alex Britti. A settembre 2018 arriva il singolo "Mentre muori di piacere" nel 2020 "Lo dedico a te" e a febbraio 2021 "Ruggine", esperimento che mischia il loro rock alla cultura folk siciliana magistralmente rappresentata dalla Piccola Orchestra Jacarànda. Nel 2022 esce "Impura poesia", brano selezionato da un'equipe di letterati per omaggiare in musica la poetica maledetta del poeta catanese Mario Rapisardi. È il 2022 esce il primo album ufficiale "Scacco matto", lanciato dal singolo "No, non ti conoscevo". Aprono il concerto di Pino Scotto e recentemente, la Band ha ricevuto le attenzioni da diversi paesi europei, specialmente Francia e Spagna, e recensioni su alcuni dei più grandi portali dedicati all'arte, tra questi "Arts Direct", "Lux Cultural", "Ars Magistris" e "Ok Arte, tanto per citarne alcune. Dal 28 aprile 2023 in radio "Scacco Matto" il singolo che dà il titolo al loro album.
