Biography

Ivan Segreto, cantautore e pianista, nasce a Palermo nel 1975. E' il 2004, "Porta Vagnu" (Epic/Sony), l' album d'esordio (maggio 2004), mette tutti d'accordo: critica e pubblico subito riconoscono l'eccellenza della sua musica nel panorama dei nuovi cantautori italiani. I critici musicali votano l'album come Miglior debutto del 2004 (Musica e Dischi) e il pubblico lo premia nelle vendite. Altro fiore all'occhiello, la Nomination al Premio Tenco 2004 tra le Opere Prime. In poco più di un anno, Ivan Segreto acquista credibilità artistica anche sul versante 'live', passando dai piccoli jazz club degli esordi a condividere lo stesso palco di grandi musicisti quali Franco Battiato e Wynton Marsalis, che lo scelgono per aprire i loro concerti. Ivan Segreto suona con la sua band in tutta Italia, concludendo la sua prima tournée nel tempio del jazz italiano, il Blue Note di Milano con due date da tutto esaurito. Il 30 settembre 2005 arriva il secondo album "Fidate correnti" (Sony/Bmg) che rimane a lungo presente nella classifica di vendita. Il singolo "Vola lontano" entra con successo nella programmazione radiofonica. L'album apre una nuova fase nella crescita artistica e nella produzione di Ivan Segreto, con testi particolarmente poetici ed evocativi e una formazione completamente rinnovata nell'organico che da un collettivo numeroso si riduce ad un essenziale ma efficace trio. L'anno successivo Ivan partecipa al 56° Festival di Sanremo nella categoria "Giovani" con il brano "Con un gesto". Nell'ottobre dello stesso anno riceve il prestigioso premio Mia Martini per la categoria emergenti che lo porta ad esibirsi anche all'Auditorium Parco della Musica di Roma. Nel 2007 esce il suo terzo lavoro "Ampia" (Sony/Bmg) che vede la partecipazione speciale di tre ospiti illustri, Franco Battiato, Paolo Fresu e Giovanni Sollima. Partecipa al Torino Traffic Festival insieme a Battiato, Antony and the Johnsons e i Subsonica e al "Berchidda Jazz Festival" diretto da Paolo Fresu. Nell'ambito dell'edizione 2007 del premio Lunezia, Radio in Blue offre un riconoscimento a Ivan per il valore letterario dei suoi componimenti e l'eleganza che contraddistingue il suo stile nonché per il suo coraggio discografico. Nel novembre dello stesso anno, tra i numerosi riconoscimenti per la sua attività artistica, riceve anche il prestigioso Premio Ciampi – città di Livorno. Fino a tutto il 2008 ha una intensa attività concertistica alla fine della quale decide di fermarsi per ripensare il proprio percorso e nel 2011 realizza "Chiaro" (OBLIQSOUND/Family Affair). Nel 2014 pubblica il suo ultimo lavoro in studio, INTEGRA, incluso tra le nomination al Premio Tenco come miglior disco del 2014. Nel 2014 esce 'Integra', per l'etichetta indipendente BradiLogo, citato come uno dei migliori album italiani dell'anno. I suoi lavori come compositore di colonne sonore/video includono il sonic-scaping per una ricerca legata alla tragedia della Shoa (Shoa e post-memoria) realizzato dal fotografo Gabriele Croppi (2012), e una partecipazione al docu-film "Nel Nome Del Popolo Sovrano", prodotto da RAI Cinema per la TV nazionale italiana (2017) In tempi più recenti Ivan ha pubblicato due estensioni dell'album Integra, "Doni" e "Angeli" (2017) e l'EP "Metasi" (2019). Nel 2020 Ivan ha reimmaginato e riarrangiato due dei motivi italiani più conosciuti di tutti i tempi: "Nel Blu Dipinto di Blu" e "Nessun Dorma", e ne ha realizzato versioni nuove e contemporanee, portando nuova vita a melodie così famose. Nel 2021 esce Indie Hub Studio Sessions, una registrazione live di Ivan Segreto e della sua band, con nuovi e vecchi singoli in una rinnovata veste musicale.
