Biography

Sentieri selvaggi nasce nel 1997 da Carlo Boccadoro, Filippo Del Corno e Angelo Miotto con lo scopo di avvicinare la musica contemporanea al grande pubblico. Il debutto dell’ensemble a Milano registra il tutto esaurito. Fin dall’esordio i concerti di Sentieri selvaggi si caratterizzano per le informali presentazioni parlate di ogni brano. Sentieri selvaggi stringe nel corso degli anni collaborazioni con i più importanti compositori della scena internazionale, come David Lang, Louis Andriessen, James MacMillan, Philip Glass, Gavin Bryars, Michael Nyman, Julia Wolfe, Fabio Vacchi, che scrivono partiture per l’ensemble o gli affidano le prime italiane dei loro lavori. Accanto a loro il gruppo promuove e diffonde una nuova generazione di compositori italiani quali Carlo Boccadoro, Francesco Antonioni, Silvia Colasanti, Giovanni Mancuso, Mauro Montalbetti e Giovanni Verrando. Dal 1998 Sentieri selvaggi è regolarmente ospite delle più prestigiose stagioni musicali italiane (Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Teatro alla Scala, Biennale di Venezia), dei maggiori eventi culturali del nostro paese (Festival della Letteratura di Mantova, Notte Bianca di Roma, Festival della Scienza di Genova, Mito Settembre Musica, Triennale di Milano) e di importanti festival internazionali (Bang on a Can Marathon di New York, SKIF Festival di San Pietroburgo, Sacrum Profanum di Cracovia). A Milano il gruppo è partner dal 1998 di Teatridithalia, che ospita i concerti nelle proprie sedi teatrali e dal 2005 organizza una stagione di musica contemporanea con un cartellone di concerti, incontri, masterclass, incentrata ogni anno su uno specifico nucleo tematico. Nel 2009 Sentieri selvaggi segue Teatridhitalia nella prestigiosa sede del Teatro Elfo Puccini, diventando con la propria stagione di musica ensemble in residenza in uno dei luoghi più rappresentativi della creatività contemporanea milanese. Per diffondere la musica contemporanea in contesti inusuali, Sentieri selvaggi collabora anche con scrittori, architetti, scienziati, video-maker, attori, registi, musicisti rock e jazz, abitando con i propri progetti spazi alternativi come gallerie d’arte, piazze, strade, centri commerciali e università. Il catalogo di produzioni editoriali e discografiche del gruppo conta oltre 10 titoli realizzati per Einaudi, RaiTrade, MN Records, Velut Luna, Sensible Records. Dal 2003 Sentieri selvaggi è sotto contratto con Cantaloupe Music, etichetta newyorkese fondata da Bang on a Can, per la quale ha realizzato quattro cd, l’ultimo dei quali, Zingiber (2012), è dedicato alla nuova creatività musicale italiana. Nel 2017 esce Le Sette Stelle per la prestigiosa etichetta Deutsche Grammophon, con musiche di Luca Francesconi, Filippo Del Corno, Giorgio Colombo Taccani, Giovanni Sollima, Mauro Montalbetti e Carlo Boccadoro. Capitolo importante nel lavoro di Sentieri selvaggi sono poi le produzioni di teatro musicale, con allestimenti quali L’uomo che scambiò sua moglie per un cappello di Michael Nyman, The Sound of a Voice di Philip Glass, che coinvolgono un pubblico ancora più vasto.
