Alla fine del 2009 Matteo Del Ferraro (chitarra), Federico Bardzki (basso) ed Emiliano Paola (batteria) decidono di porre fine all'avventura della loro Precedente band per formarne una nuova. L'obbiettivo della fondazione della nuova band, che non ha ancora un nome, è inizialmente quello di realizzare un progetto più semplice del precedente, con composizioni virate al thrash metal di stampo tedesco e bay area, per la realizzazione in tempi abbastanza veloci di un EP. I tre abbandonano quasi subito l'idea di un gruppo a tre e si attivano per cercare un chitarrista ed un cantante, che trovano in tempi piuttosto rapidi: attraverso le conoscenze di Emiliano e Matteo, infatti, entrano a far parte della band Antonio De Simone (chitarra), anche egli proveniente dallo scioglimento del suo gruppo precedente, e Alessandro De Masi(voce). Da questo momento il gruppo si chiamerà Profiles In Terror. I cinque si mettono a lavoro e impostano le loro prime grezze composizioni verso il new Thrash e il Death. Dopo aver raffinato le loro composizioni per oltre tre anni, e aver preso parte a qualche serata live, la band constata l'evidente mancanza di motivazioni del cantante e le strade si separano, rendendo necessaria la ricerca di una nuova voce. Nel 2012 trovano stabilità e completezza quando ingaggiano il cantante Emanuele Capelli. Il nuovo cantante rappresenta una piccola svolta nel gruppo e un'iniezione di motivazioni e idee. Le loro composizioni prendono un colore ancora più scuro e in sede live il gruppo risulta da subito molto più affiatato e coeso che in precedenza. Nel 2013 i "Profiles In Terror" decidono finalmente di raggiungere l'obbiettivo principale di tre anni prima ed entrano in studio per registrare il loro primo EP di 6 pezzi. Per oltre un anno, tra un live e l'altro, affrontando moltissimi problemi organizzativi spesso non dipendenti dalla band, portano avanti le registrazioni e il missaggio. Ad ottobre 2014 vengono stampate le prime copie dell'EP che la band definisce e intitola "A painful birth", un nome emblematico delle grandi difficoltà affrontate nella sua realizzazione.
