Mark Freuder Knopfler (born August 12, 1949) is a British singer-songwriter, guitarist, composer, and record producer. Known for his refined guitar technique and memorable melodies, he achieved international fame as the leader of the band Dire Straits, with whom he sold over 120 million records worldwide.
