Marco Mengoni (Ronciglione, 25 dicembre 1988) è un cantante italiano, vincitore della terza edizione di X Factor e terzo classificato al Festival di Sanremo 2010. Nel 2010 agli MTV Europe Music Awards è il primo artista italiano ad aggiudicarsi il titolo di Best European Act. Mengoni fin da piccolo si avvicina al canto e alla musica; successivamente inizia a cantare al karaoke e si iscrive ad una scuola di canto. Una volta trasferitosi a Roma continua a cantare nei pianobar e matrimoni cover e pezzi propri, spesso accompagnato da una band. Nel 2009 viene scelto da Morgan come partecipante, nella categoria 16/24 anni, alla terza edizione di X Factor. Il 2 dicembre 2009 batte Giuliano Rassu e vince il talent show assicurandosi un contratto con la casa discografica Sony Music del valore di 300.000 euro, nonché la partecipazione di diritto nella sezione Artisti al Festival di Sanremo 2010 (novità assoluta per il talent show). Riceve inoltre il Premio della Critica assegnato da una giuria di giornalisti e speakers radiofonici. Il 3 dicembre viene pubblicato il singolo Dove si vola, brano interpretato dal cantante durante la finale di X Factor. Il singolo debutta alla prima posizione nella classifica FIMI. Il 4 dicembre viene pubblicato il suo primo EP, Dove si vola. L'EP ottiene il primo disco di platino per le oltre 60.000 copie vendute
