das, was er einmal war.
Er tut sich halt a bisserl schwer
und denkt nicht mehr so klar.
Und außerdem, Sie glaubn's ja nicht,
was das für eine Arbeit macht:
Er schmutzt auf einmal fürchterlich
und röchelt in der Nacht.
Er war ja früher immerhin
noch nützlich fürs Geschäft:
als Nachtportier und dann als Boy,
mehr schlecht als recht.
Doch wirklich, im Vertraun,
auch wenn es einen quält,
der oide Mann kost nix wie Zeit
und Zeit ist Geld.
Es tut uns allen furchtbar leid,
mir wird's ums Herz so bang:
Ich glaub fast, unsern Opa,
den habma nimmer lang.
Wir sind zwar alle engagiert
am ungebornen Leben,
retten Robben, helfen Schwalben
beim Eierlegen.
Ich selbst bin Präsident
vom Antidrogenverein.
Doch so ein alter Mann
gehört nun mal ins Heim!
Da baun's jetzt grad a neues
im Industriegebiet,
damit man die Senioren
nicht allzu häufig sieht.
Denn das Gehumple und Gehuste
in nächster Nachbarschaft
schafft schlechte Vibrations
und lähmt die Arbeitskraft.
Er wehrt sich zwar mit Händ und Füß,
doch besser jetzt wie nie:
Unser lieber Opa
verläßt uns morgen früh.
Was solln denn unsre Yuppies
von uns halten,
wenn wir sie konfrontieren
mit dem Alten.
Und unsre lieben Kleinen
so nah am großen Sterben -
wie soll denn da aus denen
noch was Ordentliches werden?
Und einmal jedes Jahr,
das müßte gehn,
sollten unsre lieben Kleinen
ihren Opa wiedersehn.
Frisch gebadet und drapiert
in einem Lehnstuhl vor der Tür.
Und dann singen sie im Chor:
Wir gratulieren dir! (Lieber Opa.)
Und wenn die Kleinen endlich groß sind,
dann lassen wir den Schnickschnack sein:
Dann schläfern wir den Opa
in aller Liebe endlich ein
