Biografia

Pop Smoke, real name Bashar Barakah Jackson (1993-2020), was an American rapper considered one of the pioneers of American drill. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Pop Smoke began his musical career in 2018 releasing mixtapes like "Meet the Woo" and "Meet the Woo 2". His rap style characterized by aggressive flow, lyrics woven with urban realism and dark sonorities quickly made him popular. Success came in 2019 with the single "Welcome to the Party", which reached international charts and attracted the attention of artists like Nicki Minaj and Skepta. Pop Smoke collaborated with several rappers, including Travis Scott and Quavo. His music contributed to spreading drill culture in the United States and worldwide. His career was tragically cut short in 2020 at the age of 20 due to a homicide. Despite its brevity, Pop Smoke left an indelible mark on contemporary hip-hop music.
