The Verve were a British alternative rock band from Wigan, England. Active from 1989 to 2009 (with a brief reunion in 2019), the group achieved international fame with their 1997 album *Urban Hymns*, which included the hits "Bitter Sweet Symphony", "The Drugs Don't Work" and "Lucky Man". The band was characterized by a psychedelic and atmospheric sound, influenced by post-punk and classical music.
