Turisas è un gruppo musicale folk metal finlandese originario di Hämeenlinna, fondato il 1° maggio 1997 da Mathias Nygård e Jussi Wickström. Il nome della band deriva da Iku-Turso, un antico mostro della mitologia finlandese. Inizialmente conosciuti come Köyliö, dal nome di una cittadina finlandese, pubblicarono nel 1997 il demo *Taiston Tie*, ormai introvabile. Dopo la pubblicazione del demo, il gruppo cambiò definitivamente nome in Turisas. Il loro stile musicale fonde elementi del heavy metal con melodie e strumenti tradizionali finlandesi, creando un sound epico e coinvolgente. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano *Stand Up and Fight*, *The Battle of the Bay*, *To Live Is to Fight* e *End of an Era*. Tra gli album di maggior successo ricordiamo *The Stand Up and Fight* (2004) e *Battle Metal* (2007).
