I Rockky Band nascono, come praticamente tutta la loro successiva produzione, dopo un sano bicchiere di birra, contestualmente alla prima stesura di "Lasciate stare Silvio". Qualche anno prima Paolo Rockky (chitarra-voce) e Alessio Rockky (basso-voce) avevano già condiviso un'esperienza "artistica" in un gruppetto punk-rock, genere che andava per la maggiore sulla scena palermitana dei primi anni del 2000, e già in quell'occasione le spiccate abilità creative di Paolo si erano evidenziate ma la sua ironia satirica tagliente e bambinesca non era mai emersa, probabilmente causa dei testi stesi in lingua inglese che non riuscivano a valorizzare questa sua dote innata. Il primo brano targato Rockky Band, a detta del suo autore, ?si è scritto da solo? in un periodo in cui i media non facevano altro che parlare e straparlare delle incredibili vicende del Cavaliere, infatti non è stato tanto il tema trattato o le sue implicazioni socio-politiche ad abbattere le remore, dettate da una realtà locale in cui la musica non ha mai avuto una collocazione minimamente degna, di reinvestire il proprio tempo ed impegno in un nuovo progetto musicale, quanto la sua estrema genuinità, il suo essere stupido e geniale allo stesso tempo, l'uso di un cinismo gratuito ma quadrato; a buttare le basi per la creazione della Rockky Band è stata la cruda naturalezza dei testi, il saper affrontare temi spesso definiti ?pesanti?(quali la reclusione e le condizioni carcerarie in Voglio stare Qui o il senso della vita in Coito Interrotto) con innocenza e ilarità oltre che il sound sempre più graffiante, rude ma innovativo. Tanti nuovi progetti sono ad oggi in cantiere ma nulla sarebbe possibile se i Rockky Band non fossero prima che un gruppo musicale un'associazione a delinquere di stampo fraterno.
