Romano di nascita con origini siciliane (il padre è di Scicli, in provincia di Ragusa), all'età di 15 anni si trasferisce con la famiglia in Belgio, dove ha frequentato la scuola europea di Bruxelles (Il padre lavorava all'ambasciata italiana).
