Viola Valentino inizia giovanissima la carriera di cantante e modella. Raggiunge la notorietà nel 1979 con il 45 giri "Comprami", che in pochi mesi vende un milione di copie. Il successo prosegue con "Sei una bomba", "Sera coi fiocchi" (1980) e "Giorno popolare" (1981), e raggiunge il culmine con il lancio del brano "Sola", tratto dal film Delitto sull'autostrada, a cui partecipò in qualità di attrice al fianco di Tomas Milian. Nello stesso anno partecipa al Festival di Sanremo con "Romantici", altro brano di grande successo che raggiunge le 400.000 copie vendute. Per lei hanno scritto: Gianni Bella, Alberto Camerini, Grazia Di Michele, Maurizio Fabrizio, Dario Gay, Bruno Lauzi, Mario Lavezzi, Mogol, Oscar Prudente, Scialpi, Vincenzo Spampinato, Cristiano Malgioglio, Paolo Limiti, Giovanna Nocetti e lo stesso Riccardo Fogli, col quale è stata sposata dagli anni 70 sino alla separazione avvenuta nei primi anni 90. Nel 2004 è uscita la doppia raccolta "Made in Virginia vol. 1 e vol. 2" con cui la cantante festeggia i venticinque anni di carriera, raccogliendo il meglio della sua produzione, unitamente a tre inediti "Dea", "F.a.T.a" e "La schiava". Viola Valentino da sempre attenta alle tematiche sociali tratta argomenti come la violenza sulle donne con l'album del 2010 "I Tacchi di Giada" e la lotta all'omofobia con il singolo "Domani è un altro giorno" inciso in quattro lingue: italiano, francese, inglese e spagnolo. Nella sua carriera ha pubblicato dodici album. Nel febbraio 2019 esce la raccolta "Le perle di Viola" con nuove versioni dei suoi storici successi, nel 2020 " E Sarà per sempre". Finalmente dal 27 ottobre 2023 è disponibile "Gratis" l'album numero 13 della sua carriera. Viola Valentino da questo autunno e fino a tutto il 2024 sarà in giro per l'Italia con il suo nuovo spettacolo "Gratis Tour".
