In seguito a ciò, Jay l'ha messa sotto contratto nella sua etichetta Roc Nation. Nel 2011 sono stati pubblicati dei video che la mostravano nell'atto di lavorare al suo debut album. In seguito è stato pubblicato il singolo di DJ Fresh Hot Right Now, brano interpretato dalla stessa cantante. Il singolo ha debuttato alla vetta della classifica del Regno Unito mentre il relativo video ufficiale ha avuto oltre 10 milioni di visualizzazioni su You Tube. Per il suo debut album la cantante ha collaborato con: Will.I.Am, Ester Dean, Drake, The-Dream, Tinie Tempah e Kanye West. A febbraio 2012 ha annunciato la pubblicazione dei singoli R.I.P in Europa e How We Do (Party) in USA.
